In the Cameroonian culture of the Ndjami people, blacksmiths skillfully craft simple dolls for young girls to play with. These dolls, when left unadorned, serve as delightful companions. However, when embellished with beads, shells, coins, and various trinkets, they transform into fertility dolls, cherished and cared for as if they were real children.

Not only are these dolls treasured playthings, but they also serve other purposes within the Ndjami community. Unadorned dolls are often employed to mark houses when the Ndjami people are present, adding a touch of cultural significance to their abodes. The influence of the Ndjami extends beyond their own tribe, as neighboring tribes have observed and adopted the distinctive design of these dolls, appreciating their aesthetic and cultural value.
